R.I.P. little Honey...

Hyundai "Honey" Larsen left this life on the morning of September 13, 2008 at 6:51 am. She gave her life to save her true and faithful companion of four years, Steve Larsen. She threw herself selflessly in the way of a sleeping Town and Country SUV, thereby giving the ultimate sacrifice and moving on to the great scrap heap in the sky. She was preceded in death by "Bluey" Festiva, "Sommer" Somerset, and Millie "Van"-illi. In lieu of flowers just send cash, large bills please. If you would like to share of your own personal loss of a trusty transportation friend in your life, please leave a comment so we can all commiserate together. Rest in Peace Honey.

be thankful...be very very thankful!!!

WOW!!! Steve was in a near head-on collision this morning on his way home from work. He had just filled up the Elantra with gas (dangit...) and a huge Chrysler Town and Country SUV swerved into his lane. Turns out the guy had fallen asleep at the wheel. The impact pushed Steve's car all the way up onto the curb, deployed both of his airbags and turned his little Elantra into a pile of junk. All of this after a new $2000 transmission and new tires (dangit times two!!!). I am so so so thankful that he is alright (just a few scrapes on his arm and some burns from the airbags). The other driver is okay too. In fact, he had no injuries at all and his airbags didn't even deploy. We went to the junkyard to take some pictures but they aren't in the office on Saturday or Sundays (of course) so we'll post them next time. Just wait till you see our poor Hyundai---be thankful...very very thankful!

school pictures today

I love my middle school kids! Today is picture day at Sunset Ridge and I made Alex and Megan stand outside in the chilly air this morning to snap these pictures before their real school pictures. Alex thinks its a little ironic taking pictures on school picture day--I think it's just a mom thing. Hope you have a great weekend! GO COUGS!!!!!

wanna do something fun?!?

Imagine a stay-at-home mom of 5 SCREAMING her lungs out for a racecar driver that she's never even heard of. Well, it happened to me tonight at the Rocky Mountain Raceway. It was AWESOME! It was crazy loud with some plain crazy people there, but me, Steve, Zach and Zach's cousin Jonah had the funnest time. If you are looking for a fun night out with the fam and don't want to spend a ton, then this is totally the place to go. Do I sound like a walking advertisement?

the little things in life

how's this for excitement? we got our fence finished yesterday! with the help of my brother-in-law mark, we were able to get our backyard all fenced in. that kick-started our desire to "beautify" our backyard. steve went and bought us 4 new trees and is buying some plants today. who'd have thought that a small fence could bring such joy!!! p.s. how's THAT for our own "Y" mountain!!!
